ABOUT
“Born in the Wrong Generation” – The 90s vs 00s Debate is an interactive exhibition that explores the power of nostalgia and how it shapes our perceptions of the past.

Set at The Street, Locksbrook Campus, join us to question nostalgia, challenge idealised memories, and explore whether we can truly long for a past we never lived.

FEATURES
The exhibition is structured around four key cultural themes: fashion, music, film, and historical events, each designed to evoke the sensory and emotional connections people associate with the 90s and 00s.
01
Music
Before playlists were algorithm-driven, music was a physical experience. From mixtapes and CD’s, these artefacts explore how the 90’s and 00’s music shaped identity and culture.
02
Film and Media
The 90’s and 00’s defined modern cinema, from cult classics to the rise of franchise blockbusters. This section showcases original DVDs and movie posters that shaped a generation.
03
04
Fashion
Grunge minimalism or Y2K maximalism – each decade had its signature style. Featuring Vogue magazines, archival fashion pieces and styled mannequins, this section highlights the evolution of trends and their resurgence in today’s culture.
Historical Events
Nostalgia is personal, and this space invites visitors to share their own. Add memories to our interactive timeline, debate cultural shifts in fashion, film and media and contribute to a collective post it note installation.
